I visited Benson’s new play park on the day it opened and the immediate standout feature was the mega slide. My boys love a play park with a great slide which got me thinking about all our favourites. Have you got a favourite with a wow slide? Do let me know on the Red Kite Days facebook page.
Benson Play Park
Benson’s new play park opened at the end of May 2021 and it’s a fantastic park with lots for kids of all ages. The jaw dropper though is the big curling tube tunnel slide. You can reach the top from various approaches and it’s definitely best suited to slightly older kids.
Cuttleslowe Park
A strong family favourite and one of the best play parks in Oxfordshire, Cuttleslowe Park has a great long tunnel slide. I must warn you though, it’s fast, super fast. When my kids were younger I would stand at the bottom and catch them as they flew off through the air.

Bernwood Road Play Park
It may not be fast and it may not be high but this slide at Bernwood Road Play Park in Barton, slides in at no.3 for it’s length and twisty appeal. The play park is just outside the Oxford ring road, not far from Headington.

Tumblestone Hollow at Stonor Park
Not one but two fantastic slides are part of the magical Tumblestone Hollow playground at Stonor Park near Henley on Thames. This innovative adventure playground is the most amazing place to visit with kids.
Leys Recreation Ground
While the slides alone wouldn’t win this Witney play park a spot in this big slide guide, it’s the height of the roped climbing frame that adds to the thrill or if you’re a parent the slightly stressy feeling you get when your kids are climbing up too high and you might have to go and get them!

Waddesdon Manor Woodland Playground
OK to technically not Oxfordshire as Waddesdon Manor is in Bucks but a family day out at Waddesdon Manor is definitely worth the trip. Their adventure woodland playground is arranged over several levels, great to explore little by little. The slide is pretty epic (my kids words not mine!) and luckily has a bench seat at the end as you’ll find yourself hanging out there while your kids go again and again.
