Upton Playground is a really excellent playground for children aged 5 years and older. Located next to Upton Village Hall, there is plenty of parking. The playground is in a large field so there is lots of open space to run and kick a ball around.
The playground has lots of challenging wooden equipment including a climbing structure with high ropes and monkey rings. There is a 4 person see-saw and a spinning net swing. My kids loved the zip-wire and the obstacle course with balance beams and a tube net tunnel.
Next to the playground there is a ‘pump tack’ for bikes. The idea is that you complete the undulating circuit without pedalling by pumping into the uphills and gaining momentum on the downhills. However kids were also enjoying just riding round the track.
If you carry on past the playground (same side of field as playground but at the other end from the village hall) you can get onto a great car-free bike track which goes all the way to Didcot.
For toddlers, there is a gated playground next to the village hall. The equipment here is quite old but there’s plenty to do including baby swings, a slide and rockers.
It would make a great spot for a kid’s party. Check out the Upton Village Hall website for more information about how to book the hall.
