The Willow Tree Cafe & Restaurant is set within Moorside Place, an extra care housing complex in Kidlington and so probably hasn’t been on your radar as a family friendly cafe and restaurant to visit with your kids. I recently made a tentative visit and was happily surprised by what I found.
Run by former Jamie Oliver Chef, Simon Winters and his wife Julie, the Willow Tree Cafe & Restaurant is open to all as a local community cafe. This popular spot has an extensive menu that caters to all ages and tastes and special food nights like their sizzling steak and grill night.
There was plenty to consider on the menu on my lunchtime visit from daily specials to burgers, scampi, all day breakfast and more. I chose a brie and cranberry toastie which was crammed full, no scrimping on the fillings and also came with a side salad.
The breakfast options look good too. What I liked about the kids breakfast for under 12s is that they can choose any four items from a long list including favourites like sausages, baked beans and scrambled egg. Perfect if you have a picky child like my no.2 or they like different things.
If you just fancy a drink and a cake, there’s plenty on offer and a comfortable seating area adjacent to the restaurant. Prices are affordable too with a regular latte or hot chocolate for £1.75.
Children are catered for with kids choices on the menu and trusty IKEA high chairs.
