I had my first experience of the Illuminated Light Trail a few years ago at Blenheim Palace and have been a regular ever since.  Christmas at Blenheim Palace returns for 2025 and with a Palace of Oz theme

Last year it felt like like everything was on an even bigger scale from the moment we spotted the illuminted ferris wheel to the buzz in the market.

The Christmas Lights at Blenheim Palace is one of the major UK Christmas light trails.  They change it up a little each year to include a mix of LED lights, lasers, fire and all set to festive tunes.  There’s always a really good variety with plenty of photo opporunities along the way.

Last year’s highlight had to be the fountains and it’s was a great spot to stop halfway round. Fingers crossed they have the same again this year.  Worth noting the churrios were more expensive to buy at the fountains compared to if you got them at the start/end in the market.  There were fires here for toasting marshmallows too.

Christmas in the Palace

Each year there’s a new theme inside Blenheim Palace with 2025 The Palace of Oz – a magical tale of wizardry, witches, sparkling shoes and the power of friendship.

Inspired by L. Frank Baum’s The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, follow the yellow brick road through The State Rooms.  Look out for Toto, The Tin Woodman, Scarecrow, Cowardly Lion, Witches, Munchkins and more, as you journey to the Land of Oz and discover the Emerald City where Dorothy awaits.

Christmas Ice Skating

The real ice rink set in the Palace courtyard returns for 2025  It’s undercover but a decent size for some festive skating.  You can hire skates and penguins to hold on to for little ones.
