Saturday Science Club – Feed the birds
27 November, 2021
Why are there so many types of penguins? What are the differences between seeds and the plants? Our brilliantly beaky bird-themed Saturday Science Club for 5-9 year olds and their families will be exploring how birds adapt to and survive in their environment. Our young explorers will be ‘voyaging’ overseas to Darwin’s Galapagos Islands to meet some feathery inhabitants and playing evolution-based games that involve spoons, straws, chopsticks and BBQ tongs! Pecked with problem-solving bird-based fun, it’s a great chance to learn about how animals overcome nature’s challenges. Make pine cone bird feeders to take home and feed the birds in your garden this winter!
All Saturday Science Club sessions must be accompanied by an adult. Your visit includes access to our woodland, ponds and picnic areas. Please note the woodland closes at 4.30pm, last recommended entry 4pm.
Visit the Skogen Cafe at the Centre between 10am and 4pm for refreshments, snacks and light lunches, or families are welcome to bring their own.

About Saturday Science Club
Our fun sessions for ages 5-9 are designed to engage children and their families with STEM: science, technology, engineering and maths. Through entertaining demos and hands-on activities, children have a chance to learn, explore, question and investigate different areas of science. Each month has a different theme, so you can try something new each time if you attend regularly.
