I’m always on the hunt for a new playpark to try out and Nine Acres Recreation Ground which is the playpark in Charlbury was recommended. After a couple of weeks of miserable weather, it was so exciting to have the sun out as you’ll see from the wonderful blue sky in the photos.
Hidden behind the Charlbury Community Centre, is a wonderful playpark full of wooden equipment and plenty to keep all ages occupied. There are several different climbing structures, a huge wooden seesaw that can handle a gaggle of excited kids and slides to suit little ones and the more adventurous.
The zip wire and great big wooden tractor are also lovely additions as well as a range of swings from a nest swing to baby and big boy/girl ones.
Sweeping away from the park is a lovely wide open space perfect for kicking a ball around or just running around like crazy. There are also four tennis courts in good condition. Casual bookings and payments can be made for these at the Charlbury Community Centre. Rates for non tennis members are £5 per hour / hour which is great value. Even better, it’s free for school aged kids if the courts are not booked for matches or coaching.
Situated right next to the Charlbury playpark is the Charlbury Community Centre with a lovely library that includes a children’s section and a wonderful little cafe with excellent service and delicious cakes. I really enjoyed being able to pick up a cup of tea and a treat to take out into the park with me. Check out the TG’s cafe review, they even sell prosecco, wine and beer and for the little ones, babycinnos are free.
There’s free parking at the Charlbury Community Centre or the adjacent Co-op car park.
