Baby and toddler groups are a great low cost activity. When you’re just starting out, they’re a great place to meet other mums with babies, make friends and gives you a focus to get out of the house. The baby & toddler groups usually involve a mix of music, crafts, toys and refreshments which is perfect for when your little one is looking for a bit more stimulation. Freeland Baby and Toddler Group meets most Mondays in Freeland Village Hall from 09:30 – 11:30. There are lots of toys to be played with, grown-ups to chat to and hot drinks to enjoy. (Freeland)

Tuesday
Walking & Talking outdoor support group – is a mother and baby coffee group, with a slight difference, where we focus on the wonderful physical and mental health benefits walking and talking offers, especially to new parents and pregnant women. 13:00 to 14:00/14:30, depending on if we stop for a drink at the end or not. Tiny Little Me is a baby and toddler group for children aged 0-4 years, which meets on a Wednesday between between 09:45 – 11:15. The group is run by members of The Welcome Church in Witney and their aim is to provide a time for free-play, stories, singing, dancing, craft and sensory activities for the older children, as well as a time to chat and reconnect with other parents and carers, whilst you watch your little ones play safely. Minster Lovell Baby & Toddler Group are a voluntary run baby & toddler group that meets every Friday morning 10-11.30am at St Kenelm’s Village Hall in Minster Lovell. £2.50 per family. Everyone welcome!
Bumps & Babes Group – This informal group is open to anyone who is pregnant, or has a baby up to a year old (or very mobile!). You will be warmly welcomed with time to chat and meet other new parents. No need to book in advance, just turn up on the day. Parks & Outdoor Spaces in and around Witney
Enjoy a sunny day or wrap up warm and get out for some fresh air. Witney and the nearby towns and villages have some lovely open spaces to enjoy. We only include places we’ve been and can personally recommend so will keep adding places on a regular basis.
- The Leys Recreation Ground – a lovely park with playground and splash park as the highlight.
- Kilkenny Lane Country Park – lots to keep the little ones occupied including a lovely big sandpit
- Cogges Manor Farm – a real favourite of Red Kite Days and they regularly have events too.
- Tar Lakes – has a lovely little circular route around a small lake. Perfect for learning to ride a bike or a pushchair walk.
- Woodgreen Playground
- Nine Acres Recreation Ground – about a 20 minute drive away in central Charlbury is a lovely wooden play park with the bonus of a friendly cafe and the library adjoining.
Indoor Fun in and around Witney
The closest soft play is at Carterton Leisure Centre which also has a little trampoline park too.
Head further south to Hocus Pocus soft play which has a lovely cafe and is perfect for young preschool aged children.
